BTH RECOGNIZES SIX-MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF HAITI
EARTHQUAKE WITH NEW FUNDRAISING APPAREL AND
PLANS FOR A MISSION TRIP TO HELP ORPHANED KIDS
FORTVILLE, Ind., July 12, 2010 – Last January, Bring The HopeTM launched an effort to help children orphaned by the horrific earthquake in Haiti. Today, the optimistic apparel company marked the six-month anniversary of the quake by introducing two new “Bring The Hope to Haiti” T-shirts. The company will contribute 100 percent of net profits to help Haitian orphans and those funds will be put to work during a mission trip later this summer.
Over the last six months, sales of the original “Bring The Hope to Haiti” T-shirts have generated more than $1,000 to help orphaned kids. With the introduction of new colors to the line of charitable tees, the company hopes to raise even more money to give back. On August 28, a group of Hoosiers will travel to Fondwa, Haiti, for a mission trip. The team will rebuild school classrooms and work on a transitional structure where nearly 50 orphans will live until a permanent orphanage can be rebuilt.
“We want to send out a very heartfelt thank you to everyone that has purchased T-shirts so far,” said Jeremy Chastain, co-founder of Bring The Hope. “Your kindness means the world in Haiti and we hope that our new fund drive will generate even more money to help us buy materials for our upcoming mission trip. Together, we can make a difference for some kids who really need our help.”
It is now estimated that Haiti is home to nearly 500,000 orphans. Working in conjunction with the KidsFirst Foundation, Family Health Ministries and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Bring The Hope plans to raise all the funds it can over the next several weeks to support a mission trip that is designed to bring a sense of renewed hope and optimism to the people in Fondwa.
“We were all glued to our television sets back in January and our hearts went out to the Haitian people in the aftermath of the earthquake,” said Mike Marker, co-founder of Bring The Hope. “But, the work of rebuilding communities and lives continues and we hope that more Hoosiers will join us to help the orphans in Fondwa. Purchases made today will generate funds that we will put to work in Haiti later this summer.”
